Obituary

Winton Holmes Page, age 90 years, of Belvidere, Illinois, past away Sunday, March 6, 2011 in his home. He was born in Cherry Valley, Illinois on July 6, 1920, the son of William and Lillian (Holmes) Page. Winton married Myrtle L. Lovesee, October 7, 1944 at the First United Methodist Church, Belvidere. He was employed as a Dairy Farmer with his father on their farm in Cherry Valley and later the American Liberty Farm in Belvidere as well as other farms in Boone County. He then moved to Belvidere in 1954. Winton also worked at the Coleman Dairy until going to Joseph Behr and Sons as a machinist for 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His spare time activities included camping, fishing, and hunting. Playing the Accordion was his passion. Winton played in a dance band called the Serenaders for 15 years. He also sang in the First United Methodist Church choir were he belonged for sixty years. In addition to his church membership, Winton belonged to the Belvidere Moose Club, Cherry Valley Historical Museum, and was a charter member of Kegonsa Cove Fishing Club of Lake Kegonsa. He was a graduate of Belvidere High School's Class of 1939. Winton was the first Accordion player in the Farm Bureau and High School band. Winton loved to share his talent and secrets about fishing. If Winton wasn't catching fish, nobody was! He is survived by his daughter, Sherry (Ken) Hicks and daughter-in-law, Mary Page; six grandchildren, Brian (Renee), Andy (Erin) and Jennifer Page; Christine (John) Hicks-Rittschof, Tonia (Andy) Henning and Bryan Hicks; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Hicks and Wyatt Page; a special friend, Jim Boardman. Winton was predeceased by wife, Myrtle and son, John W. Page, two sisters, Lola Booth and Romona Dolan; a brother, William Page, Jr. and special friend, Beatrice Davidson. The family would like to extend a special thanks you to care givers, Cindy Jimenez, Lisa Keller and Northern Illinois Hospice Association for their continuing support and special care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Winton's name to Northern Illinois Hospice Association or the Cherry Valley Historical Society.
