"Winnie" (Osgood) Oliver

Rockford, IL/Weslaco, TX - Winifred M. "Winnie" (Osgood) Oliver, age 95, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 in Rockford, after long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on March 8, 1927 in Appleton, WI, the daughter of Lee and Petronilla (Van Rizen) Hinks.
Winnie married Everette Osgood in 1943, while he was stationed in the Army. Together they had two children, Kathleen and Everette "Butch." Winnie's husband died during World War II and she later married Charles Oliver in 1947. Winnie and Charles had two children, Mark and Marchia.
The couple moved to Belvidere in the early 50s. Winnie owned and operated the Dog N Suds Rootbeer Stand for 10 years. She worked for Robert Wright Accounting in Belvidere for several years, until moving into the house that Charles built in Texas in 1980. Charles passed shortly after and Winnie went to work at Burton Auto Service until her retirement.
After retirement Winnie spent time volunteering for the hospital in Weslaco, playing cards, swimming, visiting with friends and she especially enjoyed knitting. She also performed her church's bookkeeping. Winnie had a very strong faith and was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Belvidere and Central Christian Church in Weslaco.
Winnie moved to Rockford in 2006, where she lived until her passing.
Winnie is survived by her two children, Kathleen "Kathy" Taylor, of Belvidere and Marchia (Glen) Oliver of New Canaan , CT; daughter-in-law, Peggy Osgood; grandchildren, Robin (Todd) LaBuy, Robert Taylor and Tony (Aranda) Osgood; and great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Hipp, Taylor (fiancé Hank) LaBuy and Hailey Osgood.
She will be remembered fondly by special people in her life, Dottie McCoy, Alan Taylor, and the Plantz and Byczek Families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Hinks and Petronilla (Hinks) Smith; sons, Mark Oliver and Everett "Butch" Osgood; granddaughter, Heather Osgood; sister, Dorothy Kimmel; brother, Don Hinks and bonus son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Byczek.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services in Belvidere at 11:00 am, with Rev. Darren Loeppky officiating. Inurnment will follow at Belvidere Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association or to Creekwood Church.
