Obituary

William H. Hyser, 89, of Belvidere, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009, in his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on October 21, 1919 in Garden Prairie, Illinois, the son of Fred and Fannie (Knipprath) Hyser. William married Margaret Rose Andrews in Belvidere on November 2, 1945. He attended Marengo Schools. He worked for the Boone County Highway Department, built stoves at Roper's Stove Co. and retired from White Sundstrand Co. in 1983 after 17 years. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army. He was in the European Theatre serving in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe from March 1941 to September 1945. William was a life member of the V.F.W. John Hugo Kaiser Belvidere Post 1461. He enjoyed working on lawnmowers. He built a motorized bike from scratch. He also enjoyed fishing and playing pool and pinocle at the Keen Age Center. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; five children, Kathern (Richard) Rohda; William (Peggy) Hyser, Jr.; Linda (Donald) Siemens; David (Julie) Hyser; and Kevin (Tova) Hyser; seven grandchildren, Matthew Siemens, Kathern Coleman, Jeffery (Amy) Cantrill, Amanda Hyser, Lizzy Hyser, Emily (Kenny) Horton, Sarah Hyser; six great grandchildren, Brandon Siemens, Kai Horton, Kadin Horton, Ava Cantrill, Cole Cantrill, Rachel Coleman; three sisters, Myrtle Pavlak, Gertie McClethen, Helen Bye; preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jonathan Hyser and two grandsons, Andrew Hyser and Todd Siemens.
