Belvidere, IllinoisWilliam B. Carson, 80, of Belvidere, IL died peacefully January 5, 2011 in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. William was born January 14, 1930 in Milwaukee, WI the son of Howard M. and Lyla (Bates) Carson. He graduated from Tomah High School and the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. He went on to earn his Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. Bill served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. In 1957 he settled in Belvidere where he began teaching chemistry in District 100 until his retirement in 1992. He also taught chemistry at Rock Valley College. William married Barbara Luhman on August 22, 1959. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Tomah Masonic Lodge #132, National Science Teachers Association, B.E.A., I.E.A., N.E.A. and the Illinois Association of Chemistry Teachers. William enjoyed gardening, reading and sports particularly golf. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, and the Wisconsin Badgers.William was loved and will be missed by his daughters Elizabeth M. "Beth" Carson and Katherine A. (Bradley) Cooper; grandchildren, Mary Beth, Jacob William Lloyd, Sarah Katherine; sister Barbara (Reed) Newton of Wausau, WI; brother in-law William Luhman, one niece, three nephews, three grandnieces, four grandnephews, and one great grand nephew. William was predeceased by his parents and wife, Barbara.Thank you to the nurses on various units of OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center and Davita Churchview Dialysis for their excellent care over the years.

Memorials can be given in care of the U.W. Madison - Carbone Cancer Center, or Habitat for Humanity-Boone County, Belvidere, IL.
