Obituary

William James Brunschon, 77, passed away after his battle with cancer came to an end on February 9, 2023. He was born on November 9, 1945 to Frances Case and Merlin Brunschon. Bill was a deeply devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a long-time truck driver and worked for Spector Freight for many years. Bill had a strong work ethic and a dedication to his family and the community. He volunteered for the National 4-H Council to encourage positive youth development in agriculture. He also volunteered for the North Boone girl's track and field team. Bill was a founding member of the poultry show at the Boone County Fair and he volunteered at the fair for many years after. His highlight was winning Grand Champion at the Ohio National Poultry Show, where over 10,000 birds were exhibited. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Jeff Gordon. He also rooted for the White Sox baseball team and enjoyed watching horse races. Bill was a talented gardener, and was recognized with yard of the month in the village of Machesney Park. He enjoyed traveling to many different states, and going on road trips with his family. He would send out postcards from his adventures and talk all about the beauty of seeing the wild mustangs. He will be missed by many.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Robert (Dawn) Brunschon and Jennifer Schmidt; grandchildren, Reed Schmidt, Colton Schmidt, Brianna Brunschon, Emily Brunschon, Jonah Brunschon, and Nate Brunschon; great-grandchildren, Blair Vermett; brother, Ray Brunschon; and sister, Wanda Lanfear. He is also survived by numerous cousins and extended family members whom he loved dearly.

He is predeceased by his parents, Merlin Brunschon, and Art and Frances Rubert; sister, Leona; and cousins, Suzie and Dennis; as well as aunts and uncles.
