IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Joseph
Brandenburg
September 17, 1937 – September 26, 2024
William Joseph Brandenburg, 87, of Poplar Grove, IL, went to be with the Lord on September 26, 2024. He was born on September 17, 1937. The son of Lois (Wulk) and Joseph Brandenburg. Bill was a deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
On January 20, 1957 he married the love of his life Naomi (Bruchs). Together they shared 67 years in holy matrimony and one daughter, Merri Jo. Bill loved his family deeply and was extremely proud of his grandsons and of their achievements.
Bill came to faith at Good News Methodist Church in Florida, and joyfully shared his testimony and the transforming love of Christ. The Lord led Bill to Community Bible Studies, and he enthusiastically invited others to CBS. Bill and his wife, Naomi were active members in their FL church, and of Hope Church in Roscoe, IL. Bill was a prayer warrior, praying daily for his family and friends, as well as many he never met.
He worked for 38 years as a buyer for SEARS, during the height of the company, as #1 retailer in the world. Bill was awarded the prestigious "Buyer of the Year" award several times throughout his career.
He received public speaking awards as a member of the Dale Carnegie Leadership Team. His charismatic personality and quick wit helped him cultivate many deep and lifelong relationships with colleagues, church friends, and family.
He loved Golf and was a member of Bull Valley and Timber Pointe Golf Clubs. His skill for the game provided opportunities to compete in Pro-Am tournaments all over the US, and ultimately in Scotland.
Bill was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
He will be greatly missed and remembered for his dedication to the Lord, his family, church and community.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Brandenburg; daughter, Merri Jo (Joseph) Schaubroeck; grandsons, Matthew Joseph (Sarah) Schaubroeck, Christopher William (Jordan) Schaubroeck; precious great-grandchildren, Brady, Parker, Wyatt, Henry, and Hope; and brother, Kent Brandenburg. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members whom he loved dearly.
Bill was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Lois and Joseph Brandenburg; brothers, Don, David, James, and Dan Brandenburg, as well as his mother-in-law, Ruth Bruchs.
