William A. "Bill" Szewcik, 69, of Belvidere, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in his home following a long illness. Born October 19, 1944 in Superior, WI; the son of Anthony J. and Jean K. (Wilmot) Szewcik. He honorably served in the Army for his country from 1962 to 1964. On July 10, 1982, Bill married Sandra J. Allen in Kirkland, IL. He worked in Chrysler Corporation's Body Shop. Bill was a member of the UAW 1268. For 7 years he was Chief Steward for the Body Shop and Skilled Trades. Since 1961, Bill was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings. He loved to joke around and tease all the Packer Fans especially family who are Packer fans. Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra J. of Belvidere, IL; 2 stepsons, Rick (Vickie) Pratt, of Durand, IL; Scott Sensabaugh, of Rockford; 3 stepdaughters, Vickie Ashley of Rockford; Sue (Steve) Kuntz, of Cook Station, MO; and Sharon Jones of Rockford, IL; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Paulson; 3 sisters, Judy (Lyle) Peterson, Mary Jo Ely, and Joy (Gene) Minnik; special friends, Dick and Dee Graydon and Roger and Pat Sands. He was preceded in death by parents, 2 brothers, David (Sue) Szewcik and Anthony J. Szewcik, Jr. twin sister, Bonnie Schroeder and sister, Katherine Szewcik.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. followed by a Funeral service 4:00 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Av. The Rev. Ed Greenfield, Chaplain of O.S.F. Hospice, officiating. Cremation to take place following the service with burial at a later date. Memorials to the family.
