Wilfred Wayne Ward, 89, of Caledonia, IL passed away peacefully, Friday evening, August 10, 2018 at the family farm in Caledonia, IL cared for by his loving family.  Wayne was born June 13, 1929 in Belvidere, IL the son of Wilfred L. and Maud E. (Marriett) Ward.  Wayne was a grain and livestock farmer and spent most of his years on the family centennial farm.  He graduated from Capron High School in 1947.  He served 4 years in the US Navy during the Korean War. Following his naval service, he returned to the farm and married Dorothy I. Baker on June 30, 1956 in Beloit, WI.  Together they raised five children during their sixty-two years of marriage.  Wayne served on the Boone County Conservation and the Livingston Cemetery boards for many years.   His hobbies included racing go-karts, playing chess and the harmonica.  He collected arrowheads from the farm and shared his love of sports with his family.  His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family.

Wayne is loved and will be missed by his wife, Dorothy; children, Pamela Ward of Durand, IL, Donald (Lee) Ward of Caledonia, IL, Bonnie Harms of Roscoe, IL, Kerry (Brad) Crull of Poplar Grove, IL, Jayne (Jim) Ries of Caledonia, IL; grandchildren, Daniel (Allison) Ward, Annie (Mark) Schreck, Katie Gee, Becca (Andrew) Ang, J.C. (Allison) Harms, Carson Harms, Kyle (Kim) Crull, Collin (Ashley) Crull, Cara (Seth) Peikert, Michael (Courtney Kozeluh) Ries, Matthew (Nicole Bird) Ries, Jessica Ries; 9 great-grandchildren, sister, Enid Anderson; brother, Ira Ward; and extended family.  Wayne is predeceased by his parents and brothers, Robert and Donald.  The family acknowledges the love and care given by Northern Illinois Hospice and his special caregivers, Samantha, Kristen, Angie, Kari and Kay.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., to 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 17, 2018 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL with funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. with Patrick Anderson celebrant.  Burial will be in Livingston Cemetery.  Memorials in Wayne's name may be directed in care of Livingston Cemetery Association.  To light a candle or to share a memory, please visit www.AndersonFCS.com
