Belvidere, ILWayne W. Carpenter Sr., 67, of Belvidere, IL Passed away at St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with heart disease and cancer. Wayne was born September 9, 1942 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cheryl Peterson who he married on July 12, 1967 in Houston, Texas. They resided in Texas for a short time before making Northern Illinois their home.Wayne is also survived by his three children, Stacey (Roger) Thompson of Ringle, Wisconsin,Wayne Jr., (Martha) of Belvidere, IL and Kellee (Craig) Pautz of McHenry, IL; grandchildren, Corey, Zachary, Jordan, Morgan, Sheyann, Connor, Sam, Hannah, Daniela, Simon, Carl, Michelle and Jon; great grandson, Cayden; brother, Nate Carpenter of Amherst, WI; sisters, Eunice (Jim) Klink of Green Bay, Mary Nass of Butner, NC and many nieces and nephews who were all special to him.Wayne is predeceased by his parents, Byron and Lillian (Wolosek) Carpenter; brothers, Jim and Pat; sisters, Caroline Worzalla and Violet Porter.Wayne loved his family and his favorite times were doing things for and spending time with them. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as a youth. He went to St. Stephens Grade School and Pacelli High School in Stevens Point. After high school, he joined the Army where he obtained training as a medic with the 82nd Airborne Division, received his wings and was discharged as a sergeant. Wayne then attended Stevens Point Teachers College, but left for an Apprenticeship with R. J. Soik Plumbing and Heating. He completed his apprenticeship in Houston, TX before moving to the Chicago area where he was a member of Plumbers Local #130 for 19 years. He left plumbing to work at Daimler Chrysler as a pipe fitter for 18 years until his retirement in 2004. We love you Grandpa. Rest in Peace.
