Wava M. Hicks, 88, of Genoa, passed away March 29, 2015 in her home.  She was born August 24, 1926 in DeKalb County, IL, the daughter of Merritt W. and Bettie M. (Daulton) Smith. She married Lyle W. Hicks on February 25, 1945 in Genoa, IL.  She had a love for flying, The Bahamas, beach & sand. She loved nature, enjoyed walking and spending time with her cat Midnight. She retired from GTE in 1991 and then worked at Hallmark until 2000. Survivors include; son Kenneth (Sherry) Hicks of Belvidere, IL, daughter Doris Charlesworth, of Pekin, IL grandchildren Bryan Hicks, Kelsi (Kevin) O'Connor, Tonia (Andy) Henning, Christine (John) Rittschof and great grandchildren Benjamin Hicks, Helena O'Connor, Emma Rittschof,  and brother Wayne (Delcie) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle in 1991 and daughter Dianne in 1996.  The family and Midnight would like to thank KishHealth System Hospice and Visiting Angels of Dekalb for their wonderful friendship and care. Visitation will be held from 1:30p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Schenck officiating.  Cremation will be accorded and her and Lyle's cremains will be scattered in the Atlantic off the coast of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
