Walter F. Schultz, 85, of Poplar Grove, Illinois passed away peacefully on May 24, 2021 with his wife by his side. He was born December 8, 1935 in Rockford, Illinois son of Walter and Maline (Gehrig) Schultz. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy and Naval Air Reserve. Walter married, Lynn Rutz, on April 1, 1967 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He worked for IBM for over 30 years as a field service engineer before retiring. He was a member of EAA1414 and volunteered at their conventions for many years. Walter enjoyed aviation, wood working and was a conversationalist wherever he went. Walter was also a member at St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere, Illinois.
Walter will be remembered and missed by his wife Lynn; his children: Michael (Lori) Schultz, Mary (Brendan) Walsh, Kathy (Kevin) Otis, David (Amie) Schultz and Scott (Erin) Schultz; his sister Doris Herlugson; and his twelve grandchildren, Nicole Walsh, Lyndsey (Schultz) Hodapp, Nicholas Schultz, Katie Walsh, Benjamin Schultz, Kylie Schultz, Haley Otis, Drake Schultz, Reed Otis, Allie Schultz, Brynn Schultz, and Heath Schultz. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
A walk-through visitation will take place on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services, 218 West Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, Illinois from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM at St. James Catholic Church, 402 Church Street, Belvidere, Illinois. Committal immediately following at Calvary Cemetery, 8616 W. State Road Winnebago, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Walter's honor may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission, Belvidere Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army or St. James Catholic Church.
