Walter Louis Brahmstedt, 83, of Garden Prairie, died at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 24, 2006 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center. He went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 28, 1923 in York Nebraska to Louis and Minnie (Conell) Brahmstedt. He married Reola Georgene Obermier on December 2, 1945 in Waco, Nebraska and celebrated their 60th anniversary last December. He was a member of of Trinity Lutheran Church in Genoa, Ill. He was a lifelong dairy and grain farmer; 10 years in York, Nebraska, 10 years in Hampshire, Ill., and 40 plus years in Belvidere, even helping with harvest last fall. Survivors include, his wife, Reola, Garden Prairie, Ill.; two children, Elsie (Brahmstedt) Houser, Fairbury, Nebraska; Charles Walter Brahmstedt, Belvidere; four grandsons, Charles Houser, Omaha, NE; Adam Brahmstedt, Garden Prairie, Ill.; Andrew Brahmstedt, Milwaukee, Wis.; Aaron Brahmstedt, Belvidere, Ill.; two granddaughters, Anna (Brahmstedt) Akerlund, Rockford, Ill.; Teresa (Houser) Martin, Clatonia, Nebraska; three great grandchildren, Jesse Martin, Benjamin Martin, Natasha Martin, Clatonia, Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Minnie, and four brothers, Irvin, Arthur, George and Clarence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Home, 600 Hoffmann Dr. Watertown, Wis. 53094.
