Violet A. Kibby, 95, of Belvidere, died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Northwoods Care Center. She was born on July 30, 1915 in Cincinnati, Ohio; the daughter of Henry and Stella (Rickles) Spratt. Violet was married to Glenn C. Kibby in San Francisco, CA on August 29, 1942. He died on November 28, 1982. She was employed as a Nurse's Aide by St. Joseph's Hospital in Belvidere for 12 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Belvidere and later was member of Court Street United Methodist Church in Rockford. In her spare time, Violet enjoyed bowling with leagues held at the Center for the Sight and Hearing Impaired in Rockford as well as crocheting, and making dolls for area Children's Homes. Violet is survived by her three children, Patti A. Scott, Seattle, WA, Sue (Ron) Flanders, and Glenn C. Kibby, Jr. both of Rockford; four grandchildren, Kibbie (Mike) Becker, of Seattle, WA, Rhonda Lecher, of Rockford, Ron (Lisa) Flanders, Jr., of South Beloit, and Ginger Lynn (Shaun) Neubauer of Rockford; five great-grandchildren, Ana-Leise and Brandon Becker, Audrey and Aidan Neubauer and Leah Flanders; and family friend, Mace Justice. In addition to her husband, Violet is preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and two brothers. The family extends a special thank you to the Activity Director, Joanne for her heart of gold and all the nursing staff at Northwoods Care Center.
