Violet M. Alexander, 79, of Poplar Grove, Ill. died Friday, December 19, 2008 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center following a sudden illness. Born November 15, 1929 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Harley C. and Isabell (Savage) Christy. She married Claude E. Alexander in Henderson, KY on February 26, 1949. Violet worked as a machine operator for Warner-Lambert Co., Loves Park, Il for many years retiring in 1985. She and Claude were summer residents at the Blackhawk Valley Campground for forty-five years. She was known as a great cook and baker and enjoyed dancing. Violet is survived by her husband, Claude; daughter, Barbara Kay (Roger) Rowe and son, Robert (Sandy) Alexander, all of Poplar Grove; four grandchildren, Kathy (Josh) Wright, Jason (Stephanie) Roach, David Whalen, Robert C. Alexander; three great-grandchildren, Noah Wright age 5, Ava Mae Wright, 18 mos., and Violet Mae Alexander, 9 mos. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Barbara McLellan and aunt, Violet Mietla.
