Obituary

Vicki Lynn Wilson, 74, of Belvidere, IL, passed away unexpectedly January 16, 2024, and ran into the arms of Jesus.

Vicki was born November 16, 1949 in Wynne, AR to George C. Wilson, Jr. and Ruby Alsea (Jensen) Wilson.  While a young child, her family moved to northern Illinois, where she lived her entire school years in Rockford, Union and Marengo, IL. She was a 1969 graduate of Marengo Community High School .

She was employed over the years at a few places in Union and Marengo, and retired after 25 years of employment at McGill Metal Products.

Vicki moved from Marengo to Belvidere in 2006, was currently residing at Heritage Woods Assisted Living, and loved their community.

She was a lifelong, devoted and proud member to her Marengo church and its family.  It was formerly known as Emmanuel Baptist Church, and later became Victory Rock Fellowship.  She loved the services and singing of the hymns.  She helped lead and participated in bible school, children's church, raising of funds for local needs, hunger drives and foreign missionaries, and every church service she could attend.  When the doors were open, she wanted to be there.  She was a woman with a very kind, loving heart for everyone, and had an extremely strong faith to her Lord.  Her desire was for everyone to become a child of God, and to know salvation is available for everyone.

Vicki was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan, and even wore Cubs blue frames on her glasses.  She also loved to craft and attend events at the Precious Moments Museum in Carthage, MO. (and the collecting of those figurines), as well as traveling wherever she could.  She loved all animals, and was especially nuts about horses.  She liked playing card games, visiting with anyone she could, and singing karaoke hymns.

She left a great impression on everyone she met.  She is best described as generous, caring, loving and selfless. Her optimism and enthusiasm were contagious.

She was strongly loved and is missed by her family and friends, but we all know she is now living her dream. She is dearly missed by her sister Georgia Mae 'Jo' (Ralph) Sullons of Rockford, IL, and her brother David (Michelle) Wilson of Shopiere, WI.  Vicki was never married and had no children, but she leaves behind a large family of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Vicki was predeceased by her parents George and Ruby, sister Martha Ann Wilson, her brother-in-law Ralph Sullons, grandparents, cousins, other family members and dear friends.

Vicki is being cremated, and her service will be held February 3rd, 2024.  Family time is 10:00 to 10:30 a.m., public visitation is 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., service is held 11:00 a.m. to Noon.  There is a luncheon in the church fellowship hall immediately following her service.  A private burial in Marengo Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Vicki had earlier requested that upon her death, any and all memorial donations of any kind would be made to Victory Rock Fellowship.
