Vernette Anna Dittmer, 92, of Belvidere, IL passed away peacefully on December 11, 2020 in Rockford, IL. She was born on March 18, 1928 in Chicago, IL to Charles and Lulu (Kolze) Sell. She married, John Dittmer, in 1953 in Norridge, IL. Vernette worked as an office manager for Mailing Shoes for a number of years. She found her spiritual home at All Saints Lutheran Church and was a faithful member. Vernette was a member of the Red Hat Society. She had many lifelong friends. She loved traveling, bowling, golfing, and unicorns. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vernette will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
Vernette is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Larry) Lee-Johnstone, Sharon Lynn Goza, and Susan (Pedro) Sotelo; her brother, Clifford (Gloria) Sell; her grandchildren, Justin, Jonathon, Raymond, Amanda, Mark, Pedro, Jr., Monica, and Andrea; her great-grandchildren, Ava, Anthony, Natalee, Owen, Ana-Lia, Isabella, and Juliana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; two brothers, Charles and Elroy; and two sons-in-law, Kirby and Mike.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The ceremony will be privatefor family, Saturday, December 19, 2020, but for those who wish to join, they may access the live stream at 10:30 a.m. via the Friends of All Saints YouTube and Facebook page. There will be a celebration of life in the summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Vernette's honor may be gifted to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
