Verna J. Young, 98, of Belvidere, passed away Saturday, August, 12 2017 in Maple Crest Care Center. Born June 12, 1919 in Boone County, daughter of Edward and Achsah Smith. Verna married the love of her life, Albert Young on September 18, 1943 in Belvidere, IL. Verna enjoyed watching game shows with family, gardening, looking for cardinals and her owls.Verna is loved and will be missed by her daughter Sharon (Jerry) Hall; son Gary (Laura) Young; grandchildren, Gene Hall, Jeff (Donna) Hall, Jason (Kelly) Young, Charles (Becky) Young, Christine Young, Christopher Young; great-grandchildren, Ryan (fiancé Skye), Amber, Emily, Jacob, Lucas, Laci, Noah, Cooper; great-great-grandson, Jaxon; brother, Edward Smith as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008. with Rev. Scott Stolberg officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m., Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family for a charity to be named later.
