Vera L. Hansen, 96, of Belvidere, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 17, 2015 at Swedish American Medical Center, Rockford. Vera was born December 3, 1919 in Portland Township, IL, daughter of William and Hazel (Upton) Franks. She married Burton Hansen on August 14, 1939 in Muscatine, Iowa. Vera was co-owner of Hansen and Klebers Store in Belvidere for 40 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Vera was involved with the Rotary Club, and Belvidere Chamber of Commerce. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading.
Vera is loved and will be missed by her son, Gordon Hansen; grandchildren, David Hansen, Christopher Hansen and Cassandra Davison, Ryan Hansen; great-grandchildren, Maggie, Bill, David, Jr., Elise, Shoriegh, Jaylin, Sante, Keian, Indya; great-great-grandchild, Alison; sisters, Joyce Anderson, Fae Davis, Lois Black; brother, Loren Franks; numerous nieces and nephews. Vera is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Burton, son, Gregory.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL, 61008 with Rev. Eugene Wille officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
