Valerie Jean Tinberg (Koehler), 64, of Rockford, IL passed away on July 30, 2018 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Valerie was born on November 8, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to Victor and Ilene Koehler.  She married Ronald Tinberg on December 7, 1974 in Des Plaines, IL.

Valerie graduated from Main West High School in Des Plaines, IL class of 1971 then continued her education, receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Concordia University Chicago in 1974. She loved writing, home improvement television shows, and  spending time with her grandkids. She was a Le Roy Grange member and past choir director of Capron Lutheran Church.

She is loved and missed by her children, David Tinberg, Sarah (Ryan) Smith, Michael Tinberg; grandchildren, Nolan and Mallory Smith, Anthony Tinberg; and several cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Jerri Lynn.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 at Capron Lutheran Church, 155 2nd St, Capron, IL. Visitation will take place 4-7:00 p.m., Thursday August 2, 2018 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Burial at Long Prairie Cemetery.
