Thomas O. Purdy, 72, of Belvidere passed away Tuesday June 6, 2006 at home with his family by his side. He was born July 23, 1933 in Madison, NY to Ralph B. and Gladys (Fredericks) Purdy. He served in the U.S. Air Force following high school. He married Marilyn Joyce Dieken on August 26, 1960 in German Valley, IL. Tom and Marilyn moved to Belvidere from Elgin in 1976. He worked as an accountant throughout his life and drove school bus for School District 100 for several years before retiring. He was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church of Belvidere since 1976.He is survived by his wife Marilyn of Belvidere, children: Beth Feldman of Juneau, WI., Lisa (Bob) Hirst of DeKalb, Terri (Nick) Opie of Marengo, Todd (Tiffany) Purdy of Sterling, IL., grandchildren: Stacy, Brian, and Steven Feldman, Adrianna and Nicholas Opie, Matthew and Melanie Chambers, Bobby and Kelly Hirst, Julia Hoffman (Purdy), and Payton Purdy, great-grandchild: Hunter Hirst, grandson of Bob and Lisa, brothers: Bill Purdy, Robert (MaryJane) Purdy, Walter (Betty) Purdy, Nick (Marilyn) Purdy, Henry (Nancy) Purdy, sisters: Jane (Carl) Biederman, Natalie Mills, and son-in-law: Rob Feldman. He is predeceased by his parents, sister-in-law Jan Purdy, and brother-in-law Carl Mills.
