Thomas Richard Morgan, 89, of Belvidere, IL, passed away on July 7, 2025. He was born on March 12, 1936, in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of Gertrude C. (Hallfrisch) and Harry J. Morgan. After the passing of his mother, Thomas was raised by his grandmother, Barbara (Karl) Hallfrisch.

Thomas was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was devoted to his family and his community. He spent many years working in sales in the radio industry and was a co-founder of Morgan Building Maintenance. He also served as a counselor at Rosecrance, where he made a meaningful impact on countless lives.

On September 21, 1963, he married Donna J. (Mikkelson). Together, they shared 58 years of marriage and raised four children. Thomas had a deep love for nature—he enjoyed bird watching, walking through Spencer Park, canoeing, and fishing. He was also a skilled chess and checkers player. He and Donna were passionate animal lovers. Thomas was a talented guitar player and music lover.

A proud milestone in Thomas's life was his 50 years of sobriety. On February 5, 1975, he made the courageous decision to change his life. Over the next 18,408 days, he lived one day at a time, remaining sober and supporting others in their recovery journeys. He was a committed and beloved member of the A.A. community, always seeking to lift up those around him. Thomas authored and published 3 books.

Thomas's legacy is one of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to those he cared for. He will be deeply missed.

He loved his family immensely and his memory will be cherished by his children, Jay (Mary) Haskell, Teresa (Thomas) Griffith, Daniel (Joy) Morgan; grandchildren, Daniel (Danielle) Haskell, RaeAnne (Rick) Haskell, Abby (Kalli) Williams-Cleary, Sarah Griffith, Colin (Amy) Griffith, Victoria (Daniel) Nagel, Benjamin (Luna) Morgan, Kimberly Gardner, Janelle Gardner; great-grandchildren, Adeline, Anthony, Alexa; brother, Robert Morgan; first wife, Jean Morgan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and A.A. family and a host of friends he loved dearly.

Thomas is welcomed into heaven by his wife Donna Morgan, son, Michael Morgan, his parents, Gertrude and Harry Morgan; siblings, Benedict Morgan, Lucille Gagne, and Alice Scott.

Thomas' memorial visitation will be Wednesday, July 16th between the hours of 3-7pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Memorial service to follow at 7pm officiated by Father William Wentink.
