Thomas E. "Tom" Michels, 66, of Rockford, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, May 2, 2017 in Rockford after a lengthy battle with heart disease. Born July 17, 1950, son of Howard and Ruth (Johnson) Michels. Tom graduated with a double Master's degree from Indiana University, and he worked primarily in marketing and sales. Tom loved reading and history, but most of all, he loved his family.
Tom is loved and missed by his son, David (Melissa Peebles) Michels, sister, Ruthanne (George) Sorensen, close friend and former wife, Jill Michels; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jim Michels.
