Theodore "Ted" Kiefer, 62, passed away early Monday morning, June 8, 2015, surrounded by his loving family in his home.

Born on July 2, 1952 in Panama City, Florida to Lorraine and Theodore Kiefer, Ted graduated from Belvidere High School before joining the United States Army, where he sang in the military choir. Music was in Ted's soul: He was an incredible guitarist and band leader who took great joy in entertaining a crowd. He was also passionate about food and wine, and enjoyed his work as the Midwest regional manager for Bogle Vineyards. Ted loved cooking, puttering around in the yard, and, most of all, spending time with his family.

Ted was a tremendous caretaker and source of strength to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughters, Elizabeth and Caroline; his parents, Ted and Lorraine; his siblings Mary, Patricia, Michael, and Cindy; his step daughters, Brynn and Julie; his grandchildren, Mae and Liam; as well as all the nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins, and friends who adored him.

Private services will take place in Belvidere; a celebration of Ted's life for friends and family will be held at a later date.
