Thelma L. Luhman, 92, of Belvidere, died peacefully Wednesday, September 24, 2008 in her home following an extended illness. Born April 29, 1916 in Freeport, Ill., the daughter of Raymond and Gladys (Hanke) Talbert. She married Boyd W. Luhman in Belvidere on August 1, 1935. She spent her adult life in the Belvidere area except for fourteen years in Brooksville, Florida. She helped her husband with the farm duties and she worked and retired from Belvidere High School Cafeteria. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Moose Club. She lived her life to the fullest,most recently enjoyed riding in her golf cart at Lake Mills and shopping. She also enjoyed needlepoint, reading and cooking. She is survived by her daughter, Kathi Luhman (Todd Bowman), Belvidere; her dog and companion, "Tony"; a half-sister, Peggy (Robert) Blazer, Overland Park, Ks; five nieces, Sally (Bud) Rode, Letricia (Chuck) Bradley, Melinda (Jim) Saracini, Patricia (Stephen) Eickstead, Trudy (Jim) Stockham; four nephews, Bill Luhman, Herbert (Sherry) Luhman, Gerard (Nicoli) Luhman, Bill Carson; numerous great nieces and nephews; special friends, Robert Bracken, Bea Anderson and Pastor Mary Lundgren. Preceded in death by parents, her husband and a son, Terry Luhman, in 1998, a brother Jack Talbert, niece, Barbara Carson, additional family members, Donald (Elizabeth) Luhman, Adelaphine Luhman, Estella (David) Latherow, Harold (Beth) Luhman and Sidney Luhman. Special Thanks to her two caregivers, Halina Berner and Maria Garza, Dr. Rose Stocker at Swedish-American Five Points, Northern Illinois Hospice Association, Angela Green, LMT, and Lori Johnson, LMT-MFR for their exceptional care.
