Garden Prairie, IllinoisTerry K. "Gomer" Osterberg, 58, of Garden Prairie, IL died at 5:11 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born October 20, 1950 in Belvidere, the son of Kenneth and Shirley (Koplin) Osterberg. Terry graduated from Belvidere High School, Class of 1969. Terry was a member of Garden Prairie United Church of Christ and lived all of his life in Garden Prairie and Marengo areas. He was an MP and Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. He served from 1970 to 1972.He belonged to the Belvidere post #1461 of the V.F.W. He was employed at Arnold Engineering, Marengo. Terry was best known by his sense of humor and his trivial knowledge. He was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He loved playing cards (especially pinochle) and playing Yahtzee. He belonged to a pool league. Terry was devoted to his three grandchildren and enjoyed teasing and playing with them. Survivors include, his daughters, Brandi (Scott) Lander, Machesney Park, and Bethany (Ernesto) Santos, Garden Prairie; three grandchildren, Augustina, Isabella and Roman Santos; a brother, Jim (Marilyn) Osterberg; two sisters, Debbie (Dan) Albrecht and Diane Osterberg (Dave) all of Garden Prairie; sister-in-law, Connie Osterberg, Belvidere; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Scott and Roger "Turtle" and maternal and paternal grandparents.
