Sue Ellen Cannegieter, 66, of Belvidere, IL, died peacefully May 13, 2022. She was born September 3, 1955, in Pierre, South Dakota, to Milton and Jean (Sweeny) Whitney. Sue was raised in Marengo and went to Marengo area schools. She married John Cannegieter, February 25, 1972, in Belvidere.  She worked at Champion packaging, later known as Pactiv, for many years. Sue enjoyed all things nature, and loved not only her cats, but all animals that came her way. She also enjoyed scrabble, and watching Nascar. Most of all she loved her family, and cared for them deeply.

Sue was humble, her thoughts and actions were always about others, her family and friends. She was quietly supportive whenever and wherever you may need her. She was a spouse, mother, sister, friend, daughter… To some of us she was all of these. The sum of her life is portrayed in all the lives she has touched.

Sue is loved and will be missed by her husband John Cannegieter; daughter, Bonnie (Ted) Dever; brothers, Melvin (Kristine) Whitney and William "Bill" Whitney; sister, Lorna (Mike) Reschke; Grandchildren Kerry (Kaden) Berg, Ashley Cannegieter, Nicole Cannegieter, and Mike (Carlie) Cannegieter; and 11 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Barb Bland, son Michael Cannegieter, and grandson Jeffrey Green.

A visitation will be Friday, May 20, 2022, from 10:30 a.m.until the time of Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL.
