Obituary

Steven R. Lennon, 72, of Roscoe, Illinois, passed away on August 9, 2021, due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease. Born June 5, 1949, in Rockford, Illinois, son of Robert and Darlene (Anderson) Lennon. He attended Rock Valley College and went on to receive his Master's Degree from Northern Illinois University. He worked for many years as an art teacher and a principal. During his career in education, Steve worked at Poplar Grove Elementary, Perry Elementary in Belvidere for the Boone County School District, Oglethorpe County School District in Georgia, and Kinnikinnick Elementary in Roscoe, where he retired in 2008.

Steve was a member at First United Methodist Church in Belvidere. He married Linda Berthold on November 8, 1996, in Belvidere, Illinois. His greatest love was for his family, but Steve, a proud lefty, had many hobbies and interests. He loved nature and the great outdoors; especially boating, fishing, hunting, birdwatching, hiking and biking. Steve loved to learn and to teach, and sharing with his kids and grandkids what he learned. He was a true artist and an amazing painter. Steve had a witty, quirky sense of humor, and optimistic attitude. He would often putter around the house, finding many things to tinker with. Steve showed his love for his wife, Linda, through his art and for all six grandchildren by making them all growth charts. He was the world's most devoted Minnesota Vikings fan for having never lived in the state.

Steve is missed and loved by his wife, Linda; children, Lisa (Kevin Boulier) Lennon, Julie Lennon, Andrew (Christen) Lennon; stepson, Ryan (Shaniah) Alishio; brother, Michael (Bobbie) Lennon; sister, Polly (Jerry) Smith. He will forever be Papa to Evvie and Ellie Lennon Boulier; Calvin and Ada Lennon; and Nahla and Asher Alishio. He will always be an Uncle to Caleb and Carey Lennon; and Robert Hill. Steve will also be lovingly remembered by his cherished miniature schnauzer, Key West.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to our Visiting Angels, Deb and Kim; our gratitude to the dedicated, caring staff of Lincolnshire Place and Transitions Hospice; and our love to Bruce Poulter for hotdogs, pickles and puzzles.

Steve is preceded in death by both parents and his first wife, Bonnie (Wych) Lennon.

A private memorial is being held while the family plans for a community celebration of Steve's life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve's honor can be mailed to Anderson Funeral & Cremation, 218 West Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, Illinois 61008, in care of the family, to establish a memorial at a later date.
