Steven E. Blodgett, 52, of Rockford, died Sunday, October 4, 2009 in Pecatonica Township from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born July 6, 1957 in Belvidere, Illinois, the son of William and Barbara (West) Blodgett. Employed as a machinist for Pactiv for 23 years. He was a veteran serving in the Navy from 1981 to 1985. Steve was a member of Heartland Community Church. He was an avid Harley Davidson rider. He also enjoyed reading, playing the guitar, violin and banjo, camping and the outdoors. In addition to that he enjoyed puttering around the garage and working on his bike but most of all, spending time with his granddaughter, Hannah. Steve graduated from Belvidere High School, Class of 1975. He is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie Lightner, Belvidere; Dana Sandersfeld, Belvidere; a granddaughter, Hannah Lightner, Belvidere; his mother and stepfather, Barb and A.J. Voiles, Belvidere; his father and step-mother, William and Kathy Blodgett, El Cajon, California; a sister, Debra Larson, Belvidere; two brothers, Larry Blodgett, Idaho; Jay (Jennifer) Voiles, Belvidere; a step-brother, Steven Voiles, North Carolina; Special friends, Jeff West, Cecil Hart, Terri Lightner and many other friends and two special nieces, Terri-Lynn (Peter) Milinkovic and Tera Ryan. He is preceded in death by a brother, Randall Blodgett in 1996.
