Stanley S. "Steve" Szyplek, 92, of South Beloit, formerly of Chicago, died peacefully early Tuesday morning, January 22, 2014 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Steve was born on April 4, 1921 in Erie, Pennsylvania, son of Stanley and Joanna (Chlebowicz) Szyplek. Steve served in the Army during World War II in Brazil. He married Sylvia Botello on May 8th, 1945 in Crownpoint, Indiana. She preceded him in death in 1994. Steve was a truck driver for Arlington Products, retiring in 1972. He married Maria Grdazka in 2001 in Texas. He like playing cards, especially pinochle and spending time with his family. He married Maria Grdazka in 2001 in Texas.

He is loved and will be missed by his wife, Maria; children, Sundae (John) Rupley of Northbrook, IL and Susan Szyplek of Rolling Meadows, IL; grandson, Cory Rupley; stepdaughter-in-law, Olivia; step-grandchildren; Alfredo and Ricardo; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sylvia; siblings, Mitchell and Helen.

Cremation rites have been taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
