Stanley B. Sawyer, 82, of Belvidere, went to be with the Lord, Thursday evening, November 7, 2013 at Park Place, formerly Home Bridge Center in Belvidere. Stanley was born October 25, 1931 in Belvidere to Harry and Amolia (Huff) Sawyer. He graduated from Belvidere High School, class of 1949. He attended Northern Illinois University before enlisting in the Navy from 1951 to1955 during the Korean Conflict. He married Joan (Johnson) Sawyer on June 22, 1956 in Belvidere. Stanley worked in purchasing for 40 years until retiring in 1999. He was a member of Belvidere Church of Christ. Stanley is loved and will be missed by his wife, Joan; sons, Daniel (Rosalie) Sawyer, of Rockford; Craig (Tricia) Sawyer, of Belvidere; grandchildren, Christina, Olivia and Hannah; sister, Joyce Russell, of Poplar Grove and several nieces and nephews. Stanley is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, David and Mike; and sisters, Shirley Radcliffe and Charlotte Gaby, a niece, Vickie Russell and two nephews, Dustin Smith, and Gary Gaby.
