Spencer Lee Morris, 87, of Belvidere, IL, died peacefully, February 16, 2024, in Belvidere. He was born October 19, 1936, in Seward, IL, son to George Lee and Mary (Baal) Morris. He lived most of his life in Boone County. Spencer proudly served our country in the Army from 1960 through 1962. He would always greet fellow veterans when he spotted them wearing uniforms or military hats or jackets.  He married Jeanette (Carlson) Morris on August 14, 1998.   He was employed by Rockford Airport, Blackhawk Redimix, and worked as a handyman for Oak Lawn Trailer Park in his later years.

Spencer was a member of the IDA Public Library, Prairie Grange and the Boone County Historical Society. He enjoyed flea markets, garage sales, casinos, volunteering, and loved to watch the Bulls. He would listen to his favorite song, "Tennessee Waltz" about five times a day. Spencer had a passion for tinkering and was very handy and mechanical when it came to fixing anything. He loved to read and enjoyed the newspaper.   His fondest memories were of his time spent at the cabin and of "Buddy" his beloved Springer Spaniel.

Spencer is loved and will be missed by his wife Jeanette (Carlson) Morris, his children, Stacey (Kevin) Holder, Stephen (Barb) Morris, and step-son, Daniel (Michele) Carlson; grandchildren, Ryan (Mia) Longnecker, Jessica Brooks (James Koch), Justin (Rachel) Holder, Heather Holder, Andy (Alysha) Vardell, Tyler Holder, Trey Morris, Tyler (Anna) Morris, Seth Morris, Dusten (Rebekah) Carlson, C. David (Ryann) Carlson and Donovan (Kimberly) Carlson, Nic and Alexie Kortemier; 17 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary; brothers, Richard Morris, Edwin Morris, Calvin Morris; and sister, Alice Potter.

Spencer's visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services. A visitation will also be at 10 a.m.  Friday, February 23 before the funeral at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Pastor Ian McClellan from River Valley Community Church will officiate.
