Signe DeMunn, 95, of Belvidere passed away at Crimson Pointe Assisted Living, Rockford, IL on Monday, February 11th. She was born to parents Alfred and Petra Jacobson on January 4, 1918 in Belvidere, IL. Signe grew up on Perry St. in Belvidere and attended Belvidere schools. As a child she spent a lot of time playing in the Belvidere Park which she dearly loved. She worked at the National Sewing Machine Co. On June 3, 1940 she married Sumner DeMunn. The couple always farmed in Boone County and dairy farmed south of Belvidere for 57 years. They faithfully attended the Boone County fair and for many years the Walworth County Fair. Signe was a baptized and confirmed member of Zion Lutheran Church. She loved reading, gardening, sewing and embroidery. She was a member of the Bloods Point School Mother's Club, Red Hat Society, and Perry Street Kids. Signe was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and was privileged at the age of 80 to visit her parents' beautiful native country. She traveled to New York City in her later years, and loved to fly. She is survived by her daughters Kristine (Robert) Tukker of Cherry Valley, Kathryn (Richard) Baas of Kenosha, WI; daughter-in-law, Janet DeMunn of Fond du Lac , WI; grand children Cindy (Andrew) Steinhauer, Kimberly (Scott) Scharschmidt, Wendy (Jason) Potter, Dawn (Jon) Kuechenberg, Sandra Monroy, Mark Monroy, Scott (Stephanie) Harris, Jason Harris, Dr. Eric Baas, Kara Baas; extended family Robert (Maria) Tukker Jr., Dan (Carol) Tukker, Laura Gray; 16 great-grand children; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son Kenneth, daughter Karen Monroy, and siblings Reinhardt Jacobson, John Jacobson and Ann Gibson.The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Crimson Pointe for the kindness, caring and friendships for the last 6 years. To the staff of Transitions Hospice and Niccole Ran, N.P. for making the journey comfortable; and most of all, to Cely and Romeo the personal caregivers who loved her as their own.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Zion Lutheran Church of Belvidere.
