Shirley Lee Berg, 85, of Loves Park, IL and formerly of Belvidere, passed away Friday afternoon, April 1, 2022, in Rockford, IL after a short illness. Shirley was born May 11, 1936, in Unionville, MO. Shirley graduated from Unionville High School and married her first husband Ronald E. Wahl on July 4, 1954, in Unionville, MO. Shortly thereafter the couple relocated to Belvidere, and to this union three daughters and one son would be born. Following Ronald's death, Shirley found love again and married Leon Berg on July 2, 1999, in Belvidere. Over the years Shirley was a daycare provider out of her home, and later was a co-owner of Dague Decorators with her husband Leon. Shirley was Baptized at First Baptist Church in Unionville, MO and attended First Baptist Church of Belvidere prior to becoming a member at Immanuel Lutheran Church and served in the Ladies Guild. She was instrumental in starting the "Helping Hands" community program. Shirley had a passion for sewing, knitting and crocheting; and was a talented cake decorator. You could also find Shirley enjoying the lanes of a bowling alley from time to time. Her love for her family always was the first priority and spending cherished time with them.

Shirley is loved and will be missed by her children, Rhonda (Dale) Champlain, Judy (Terry) Shook, Linda (Craig) Olson; stepchildren, Joyce (Mark) Loewecke, Julie (Randy) Hansen, Terry (Dave) Sohn; siblings, Maribelle Hoereth, Anna Dudolski, Richard Tingley, Robert Tingley, Pat Kinney, Ruth Tingley; grandchildren, Ryan Shook, Matt Shook, Dana Lloyd, Jason Wahl, Angie Babcock, Dustin Champlain, Michele Willing, Craig Wares, Eric Wares; several step-grandchildren; Shirley was also blessed with a great number of great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and in-laws; and her special daughters in-law, Sandy Daniels, and Marilyn Yarashus. Shirley is preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald E. Wahl; second husband, Leon Berg; son, Jeffery A. Wahl; sister, Barbara Tingley; brother, Donald Tingley.

Funeral Services for Shirley will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Road, Belvidere, with Rev. Braun Campbell officiating. Burial at Highland Garden of Memories. Shirley's visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Thursday at the church.
