Shirley Arand, 89, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully, on January 30, 2025. Born on September 16, 1935, in Belvidere, she was the daughter of Laura (Greene) and William Dodson.

Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She cherished the simple pleasures of life, especially going out to eat—a passion she enjoyed frequently. Though she never enjoyed cooking, her love for spending time with family and friends over a good meal with good conversation will always be remembered. Shirley also had a fondness for reading, word searches, and watching television, finding joy in these quiet, solitary moments.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jerry Arand, and her parents, Laura and Bill Dodson.

Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her children, Douglas (Edna) Arand of Chattanooga, TN, Sheryl (Dave) Rickabaugh of Belvidere, Pamela (Dan) Rickabaugh of Belvidere, and Bradley (Janice) Arand of Wisconsin Dells; Grandchildren:  Matthew, Missy, Meagan, Michaela, Jennifer, Tricia, Erin, Erica, Danielle, Alicia: Step Grandchildren: Kyle,Ashley and sixteen Great Grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008, at 10am with service to follow at 11am, where friends and family are invited to celebrate her life. Shirley's spirit, warmth, and love will remain in the hearts of all those who were lucky enough to know her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Shirley will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on in the stories, smiles, and love she shared throughout her life.
