Obituary

Sharon "Sherry" L. Webber, (79) passed away peacefully Thursday, May 25th after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 18, 1943, to Gale and Muriel Webber, in Belvidere. She lived her entire life on the farm which was homesteaded in 1845.

Sherry graduated from Belvidere High School in 1961, with high honors. After graduation, she worked for 3 years at the Belvidere Bank and several years at Rockford College. She loved working in the secretarial field and went on to work at Sundstrand's. After she retired from Sundstrand's, she went into the field of Real Estate. She worked for Century 21 for several years. Before completely leaving the workforce, she worked in the office at Sears in Cherryvale Mall.

Some of Sherry's joys was her deep love of animals, especially horses and dogs. A big part of her life was when she started the GREENBRIAR Kennel in 1963. This endeavor involved breeding German Shepherds in which she raised and sold registered puppies. She had one Shepherd named Anastacia of GREENBRIAR which she and "Stacey" won many trophies and ribbons which Sherry displayed proudly around the house. Another special dog was Duchess who was trained for obedience. She truly loved her dogs and expertly cared for them.

Sherry also had a love for horses, especially thoroughbred racehorses. The Triple Crown and Breeders Cup races were looked forward to every year. She could tell you the history of every horse and jockey in every race. She attended the Kentucky Derby several times. On the day of the big race, you could find her at OTB, having the time of her life. She also attended races at Arlington Park, which she always enjoyed.

During the last few years of her life, she had a calico cat in which she came up with the original name of "Cat." He was a very special and loving kitty.

Summertime was spent on outings to the cabin on the Kishwaukee River. There were many days of playing in the water and lots of good picnics. Sherry loved the "Monsters of the Midway" – Chicago Bears. She was overcome with joy and excitement when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. Occasionally, she would play a few rounds of golf at Sinnissippi Golf course and bowled in a league for several years. She always enjoyed the family get-togethers and Christmas was always very special.

Sherry loved to travel and went to England and Scotland to research the family ancestry with her mom and sister Pat. They had a very memorable trip.

Sherry will be missed by her sister, Kay Wilson; nephews, Michael (Danice) Loveridge, Jeffrey (Carol) Loveridge; great-nephews, Randall Dalgard, Brandon (Bri) Loveridge; great-niece, Racheal (Michael) Isham; other survivors include great-great nephews and nieces; plus, several cousins. Sherry was predeceased by her parents and sister, Patricia Cooke.
