Sergio Gallegos Barrios, 59, of Belvidere, died Thursday, January 13, 2005 in Park Strathmoor Nursing Home after a long illness. Born June 15, 1945 in San Luis Potosin, Mexico, son of Felix and Monica (Barrios) Gallegos. He came to the United States from Mexico in 1971. He has resided in Belvidere since 1993. He married Josefina Mendoza in Mexico in 1964. He worked as a Machine Operator for Marengo Foundry and later worked for Pork-King Co in Marengo. Member of St. James Catholic Church. He is survived by Wife, Josefina Gallegos, Belvidere; six children, Juvinaldo (Jolanda) Gallegos; Belvidere; Alfredo (Nativida) Gallegos, Mexico; Felix (Mirya) Gallegos; Belvidere; Belen (Jame' Lopez) Gallegos, Belvidere; Monica (Francisco Espinoza) Gallegos, Belvidere; Esmeralda (Jorge Gomez) Gallegos, Belvidere; sixteen grandchildren; two sisters and eight brothers.Services 9:30 a.m., Monday, January 17, 2005 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home 218 W. Hurlbut Av. followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m., Monday, in St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Lorenzo Gonzales, Celebrant. Burial in Illescas Cemetery, San Luis Potosin, Mexico. Visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
