Belvidere, ILSamuel L "Candy Man" "Sambo". Douthat, 77, of Belvidere, IL died peacefully Thursday morning December 9, 2010 in Home Bridge Center, Belvidere, IL with his loving family at his side. Sam was born October 10, 1933 in Greene County, Tennessee the son of Willie J. and Ruby (Walton) Douthat. Sam married Peggy Carol Lynn Hatcher on August 28, 1976 in Belvidere. Prior to Sam's illness he farmed and worked security for Candlewick Lake. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and lived out his faith as a Sunday school teacher. He is loved and will be missed by his wife, Peggy; children, Samuel (Debra) Douthat, Jr., Kathy Douthat Hobbs, Richard William (Sherry) Douthat, Sabrina Irene Jeanette Douthat (Robert) Weimerskirk; brothers and sisters, Reece (JoAnn) Douthat, J.P. (Imogene) Douthat, Billy (Barb) Douthat, Glenna Parks, Richard (Carol) Douthat, Margie (John) Slater; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Sam is predeceased by his parents and niece, Janice Parks.
