Ruth Weld, 96, of Belvidere, died Friday at Wesley Willows Health Center. She was born on September 22, 1908, in LaSalle County, IL to Ora John and Clara (Fogg) Coon. She married Robert S. Weld of Belvidere, on August 2, 1941, in Havana, IL. Ruth was educated in Havana, IL, attended Knox College in Galesburg, IL, and taught school at Lincoln Elementary in Belvidere. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Belvidere, a member of the Presbyterian Women's Organization having served as president, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Belvidere Women's Club, a volunteer with Highland Hospital Auxiliary and a pink lady there, a fifty year member of Eastern Star Chapter 46, a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and the Panhellenic Society, and Secretary of Ida Public Library Board for many years.She is survived by daughters: Judith (Roger) Powers of Belvidere, Dianne (Ron) Loomis of Redondo Beach, CA, Brenda (Dan) Wych of Indianapolis, IN. Grandchildren: Michael (Nancy) Jackson of Belvidere, Steven (Kirsten) Powers of Elmhurst, IL, Carrie (Steve) Hurihanganui of New Zealand, Ann (Jason) D'Angelo of Indianapolis, IN, Kathryn (Damian) Ferris of Squaw Valley, CA, Robert Weld Loomis of Redondo Beach, CA. Great-Grandchildren: Stephanie and Brittanie Jackson, Ora John D'Angelo, Jackson Hurihanganui, and Erin Powers. Predeceased by parents, husband, one brother, and one sister.
