Obituary

Ruth Lucille Miller, 93, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Born in Boone County, October 30, 1917, the daughter of Ira and Ruth (Kjell) McCoy. She graduated from Capron High School, valedictorian of her class in 1935. She worked for the National Sewing Machine Company in Belvidere before marrying Harry F. Miller on September 8, 1939. They began married life on a farm in Winnebago County and in a short time moved to a farm in Flora Township, Boone County, where they spent their farming career. Lucille was a member of First Baptist Church and the Ada Stearns Fellowship, a former Sunday school teacher and served the church in many capacities. She was a member of Boone County Home and Community Education and served as a 4-H leader; member of Flora Grange who served tirelessly at the Boone County Fair for many years; also a member of Flora Home Missions and Sorosis Club. After retiring Lucille and Harry enjoyed taking many trips around the United States.Survivors include her daughter Joyce Miller, son Roger (Sharon) Miller, granddaughters Karrie (John) Gustafson, Kellie (Tony McIntire) Meyers, Kammie (Jeff) Lane, great grandchildren Alissa and Abagail Meyers and Corbin and Chloe Gustafson, sister-in-law Dorothy McCoy. Predeceased by her parents, husband Harry in 2002, infant son Donald and brother Clifton McCoy.

Memorials are being established in her name for the Ada Stearns Fellowship and a 4-H Home Economics Scholarship.
