Russell Peterson, 80, of Poplar Grove, IL passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018. Born June 1, 1938 in Woodstock, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Anna (Horn) Peterson. On April 11, 1964 he married his sweetheart, Jacquie, in Wheaton, Illinois.

Russell graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois then went on to work as an Engineer for CamCar Inc., a plastic parts manufacturer who provides high & low volume plastic injection molded parts. He had a real passion for fixing things and was a helpful handyman around the house. A member of SME (Society Manufacturing Engineers) and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he found his spiritual home. He also had passions for golfing, bowling, gardening, and birdwatching.

Russell was loved and will be missed by his wife, Jacquie; children, Sharon (Paul) McKenzie, Juliann (Ron) Gustafson, and Marcy (Michael) Bozeman; brothers, Gerald (Shirley) Peterson and Vernon Peterson; and grandchildren, Conley Gustafson, Ian McKenzie, Adriana McKenzie, Hope Bozeman, Anna Bozeman; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janice Walz.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Rd, Belvidere, IL 61008, with Pastors Keith Richard and Rick Wagner. A memorial gathering will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Following the service there will be time of fellowship at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Russell's name may be made out to OSF Hospice, 5501 E State St, Rockford, IL 61108.
