Russell W. Bounds, 84, of Belvidere, died Friday, September 18, 2009 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center following a short illness. He was born on October 3, 1924 in Poplar Grove, Illinois, the son of Leroy and Augusta (Hermanson) Bounds. Russell lived most of his life in Belvidere. He attended schools in the Poplar Grove area. He was married to Irene Knapp in Rockford on December 12, 1948. She preceded him in death. He then married Doris Hawley in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on November 24, 1973. Russell was employed as a shipping clerk for Central Rubber Company for forty-two years before retiring. He was a member of Pine Grove Free Methodist Church. Russell is survived by his wife, Doris, Belvidere; a son, Don (Sandy) Bounds, Rockford; two daughters, Wendy (Doug) Kerlin, Forsythe, Georgia and Penny (Bob) Schultz, Crystal Lake, Illinois; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Mayberry, Belvidere and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, Irene, Russell is preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, Irene Stahlheim, Gladys Hopperstead, Eleanor Bounds, Sylvia Mayberry, Ardis Berg, Norma Nelson and two brothers, Robert and Ronald Bounds.
