Ruby E. Hendrickson passed away peacefully on May 10, 2023 at the age of 96. She was born October 28, 1926 in Middleton, Wisconsin to parents, Walter and Marie Hoffman. Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Dean Hendrickson; sons, Roger and Walter Hendrickson; parents, Walter and Marie Hoffman; brothers, Walter and Albert Hoffman; sister, Linda Lervik; nephew, Walter Wing; and grandsons, Joseph and Garrett Hendrickson. Survived by sons, Chuck (Johanna) and Jeff (Kathi) Hendrickson; daughter, Sherrie (Mark) Morris; grandchildren, Joshua and Jenifer Hendrickson, Matthew (Rebekah) Morris, Kylee (Nic) Krause, Mackenzie (Seth) Bicksler, Mitch (Rebecka) Hendrickson, Max (Lea) Hendrickson, Jacob (Sarah) Hendrickson, Caitlin and Luke Hendrickson; great-grandchildren, Ethan Brown, Tanner Hendrickson, Shawn Hill, Dean, Dallas, and Duke Hendrickson, Olivia Hendrickson, Gwyneth and Luke Morris, Coen and Camden Krause, Bennett, Briggs and Baby Bicksler due in November.
After graduating from Oregon High School in 1944, Ruby attended Greenville College for two years, where she then went on to teach at a rural school for six years. After graduating from NIU in 1972, Ruby taught second grade at Lincoln Elementary School in Belvidere until her retirement in 1993. Ruby was a former member of First Presbyterian Church and current member of First United Methodist Church, Sunday school superintendent and trustee, Sunday school teacher at United Church of Christ in Garden Prairie, belonged to the Retried Teachers Associated and Christian Women's Club, Bible Coffee coordinator and guide, and she worked with Rockford Literacy Council as a tutor. Ruby Loved her Tuesday morning bible studies in her condo up to 3 weeks before she passed. She also loved playing pinochle every Thursday afternoon in her condo up to 3 weeks before she passed. She was an amazingly strong woman and was loved by many. Ruby was a devoted mother and grandmother, loved to travel with her close friend, Elma Henneberry, and donated to many charitable and religious organizations. Special thank you to caregiver and friend, Anna Mora, 24-hour caregiver, Saivora Vodo, and Northern Illinois Hospice for their wonderful care.
Ruby's Visitation will take place at 10:00 AM & Funeral @ 11:00 AM on May 15th at Anderson Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church in Belvidere or Samaritan's Purse or Northern Illinois Hospice.
