Ruby J. Flemming, 98, of Belvidere, IL passed away peacefully, Sunday evening, November 2, 2014 in her home. Ruby was born April 1, 1916 in Earlville, Illinois the daughter of Jack and Alis (Severeid) Engelsen. Ruby married Darrel Crawford on August 25, 1934; following his death she married George Flemming on October 18, 1975. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a former Pink Lady at Highland Hospital, former member of U of I Home Maker Extension, Boone Co. Saddle Club, Oak Glenn Grange, Davis United Methodist Church Ladies Aide Society and Kishwaukee PTA.
Ruby is loved and will be missed by her children, Alice (Hubert) Kays of Belvidere, Katie (William) Boughton of Belvidere, Roger (Gloria) Crawford of Estill Springs, TN; step children, Kay (Victor) Kern of Yukon, OK, Dennis (Margaret) Flemming of Mauston, WI; Grandchildren, Barron (Wendy) Crawford, Derrick (Erica) Crawford, Jeff (Denise) Kays, Randy Kays, Jason Kays, Ashley (Robert) Mirakian, Seth (Fiancée Josie McCracken) Boughton, Angie Parduhn, Kelly (Michael) Link, Dana (Lance) Olson; 15 Great-grandchildren; 2 Great-great grandchildren; sister in-laws, Charlene Engelsen, Mary Ellen Andresen; brother in-law, Irving "Pete" Crawford. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; husbands Darrel Crawford and George Flemming; son, Dan Crawford; brothers, Luther, Glenn, John, Robert, Raymond, Everett; sisters Anne and Beth.
The family acknowledges the love and care given to Ruby by her nurse, Jennifer; caregivers, Betty, Amy and Morena; and the staff and volunteers of Northern Illinois Hospice and her physician, Dr. Anthony Molinari. We are ever grateful.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL with Rev. Nord Swanstrom, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Garden of Memories.
