Rosemary June Williams, 89, died peacefully on May 1, 2024 surrounded by her loving family in her own home.  Her husband Melvin of 65 years died in 2019.   Rosemary was born November 22, 1934 in Iola, Kansas to Salvation Army officer/pastor parents Senior Major Albert and Nellie Legg.  She graduated from Mishawaka, Indiana High School in 1953. Rosemary was married to Melvin Williams on January 10, 1954.  They had six children.  They are Albert (Susan) Williams of Belvidere, IL., Teresa Williams and Janet (Storm) Traver of Beloit, WI., Karen (Wendy) Williams of Ellettsville, IN., Melvin (Ginger) Williams Jr. of Anniston, AL., and LaVonne (Steve) Adams of West Olive, Mi.  Rosemary had 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and a beloved sister Evelyn (Gus) Patsaros of Godfrey, IL.  She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin, son Melvin Jr., son-in-law Jerry Traver, and two grandchildren Kimberly Williams, Clifford Adams and brother Laurence Legg.  Rosemary was active in The Salvation Army Beloit Corps and worked as their Senior Center Director for a time.  Later, she was active at the Rockford Temple Corps until her limited mobility prevented it.  She deeply loved God and her family. Her previous work was with Atwood, Green Giant and a homemaker.  She enjoyed her retirement RVing to the warmer climates of Florida and Arizona.  Rosemary and her husband Melvin lived in Kirkland, Belvidere, Caledonia and she lived 53 years in their South Beloit home.  The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, May 20 at 11 am at The Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps, 500 S. Rockford Ave, Rockford, IL, a light luncheon will follow with burial at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps.
