Rose D. Carpenter, 83, of Belvidere, died surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 1, 2011 in her home following a sudden illness. She was born on January 16, 1927 in Rockford, Illinois; the daughter of Emil and Alma (Ulin) Ohlin. She has lived her entire adult life in Belvidere. She was employed as a Hostess and Assistant Manager for the Huddle Restaurant for 25 years retiring in 1998. Rose was a member of First United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, playing cards and games, and taking care of other people. She is survived by her two daughters, Donna (Greg) Keegan of Belvidere and Debbie Richardson of Rockford; and a son-in-law, Jim Culvey of Belvidere; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Rose is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Shirley Culvey; two sisters, Evelyn Sauberlich and Mildred Bergstrom and a brother, Laverne Ohlin.
