Obituary

Ronnie Dean Keeney, 73, of Belvidere passed away on January 12, 2017 in the loving presence of his family at his home. The son of Glenn and Pearl Coonrod Keeney was born on July 1, 1943 in Mason City, IA. For 28 years, he was employed at Arnolds Engineering in Marengo. On November 10, 1967 he married Lee Ann Anderson. She passed away on September 26, 1973. On December 18, 1976 he married Joyce Brenneka in Belvidere.

Ronnie served our nation valiantly as Sargent in the Marine Corps during Vietnam from 1963 to 1969. He earned a Purple Heart and was a recipient of other awards such as a Good Conduct Medal for his service. He also was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Belvidere. He had a love of nature which included; camping, fishing, hunting, and feeding the birds and squirrels. In addition, he had a talent for wood working. Ronnie was deeply loved and will be missed.

Here to cherish Ronnie's memory is his wife, Joyce; children, Scott (Renee) Keeney, Craig (Pam) Keeney, Gayle (Jay) Abrams, Rosie (Mark) Weber, and Jackie (Brad) Benson; sisters, Bev (Jack) Krause, Karen Bendickson, Joyce (Don) Fisher, and Sharon Keeney; brothers, Gerald (Sue) Keeney and Glenn (Lois) Keeney, Jr.; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ronnie, is predeceased by his parents; wife, Lee Ann Anderson; infant daughter, Cindy Ann; brothers, Gerry and Harold Keeney; and sister, Phyliss Endriss.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere. A funeral service, celebrating Ronnie's life will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. John Brennan, officiating. Burial will take place at Belvidere Cemetery..
