Poplar Grove, IllinoisRonald Lee Shook, 66, of Poplar Grove, IL passed into the presence of his Savior at home surrounded by his family on Sunday evening, December 19, 2010 at 10:20 p.m. after a courageous, nearly 7 year, battle with cancer. Ronald was born on June 2, 1944 in Belvidere the son of Homer and Juanita (Wells) Shook. He married Rosemary "Rose, Rosie" Lyga on April 19, 1969 in Independence, WI. Ron retired from the Belvidere Chrysler Assembly plant after 35 years of employment. He was a member of Calvary Baptist church in Belvidere and had been attending Faith Baptist Church of Belvidere since may of 2009. Ron dutifully served in the US Army in Korea.Ronald is loved and will be missed by his wife, Rosemary of Poplar Grove; daughter, Dawn (Stacy) Meyerhoeffer of Dayton, VA; sons, Joshua of Newport New, VA, Matthew B. (Dana) of Harvard, IL; daughter in-law Kendall Shook of Portsmouth, VA; grandson, Ethan Shook of Portsmouth, VA and a grandbaby to be born in June of 2011 to Matt and Dana; step-grandchildren Sarah, Hannah and Caleb Meyerhoeffer of Dayton, VA.; brothers, Fred (Mary) of Sun City, AZ, Gordon (Yvonne) of Anna Marie Island, Fl; sisters, Shirley (Randy) Trueblood of Belvidere, Joan Monroe of Westminster, CO, Norma (Guy) Johnson of Belvidere, Carol (John) McConnell of Bakersfield, Mo; sisters in-law, Marie Shook and Mary Shook-Pinnow both of Belvidere. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Pearl and Homer Shook; brothers Virgil and Dean; sisters, Jerine Hendrickson and Marie Krebsbach.
