Ronald A. Long, 70, of Rockford, died Friday, July 11, 2014 in his home following a sudden illness. Ron was born March 10, 1944 in Belvidere, IL the son of Warren and Adele (Ullmark) Long. He graduated from Belvidere High School. Ron married Mary Ann Thomas in Rockford's Third Presbyterian Church on April 23, 1983. For 35 years, Ron was a Quality Control Inspector for Barber Colman Co. He was a veteran serving in the Army while stationed in Germany. Ron was a member of Third Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed fishing, and building and repairing clocks. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; a son, Chris (Kendra) Long of Carlyle, PA; 2 daughters, Dawn Gutierrez of Low Point, IL and Lynn (Todd) Silfer of Freeport, IL; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Karl (Beverly) Long; of Belvidere; 2 twin sisters, Joyce Durkee of Rockford and Judith Lundberg of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Av. The Rev. Dr. Murray Hanson, Pastor of Third Presbyterian Church, officiating. Cremation to take place with private family burial in Belvidere Cemetery.
