Ronald A. Martin, 73, of Belvidere died Wednesday, December 7, 2011 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center E.R. following a sudden illness. He was born February 6, 1938 in Belvidere; the son of Harry S. and Elizabeth (Walberg) Martin. He attended Belvidere High School. Ronald married Elaine Karlson in Belvidere on August 19, 1972. He was a dairy farmer for many years. He was then employed as a truck driver for Hicksgas for 30 years. He was a Sergeant in the Army serving from 1960 to 1962. Ronald was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church, Boone County Farm Bureau, Formost Dairy Association. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Bear and Cubs fan. Ronald is survived by his wife, Elaine; two daughters, Lisa Martin and Teresa Martin, all of Belvidere; a son, Scott Martin, of Idaho; two grandchildren, Cody and Kiley Martin; three sisters, Carol (Don) Hildebrand, Marie (Dean) Hansen, Virginia Lindblom; sister-in-law, Marge Martin; several nieces and nephew; numerous friends. Ronald is preceded in death by parents, brother, Harry and brother-in-law, Dave Lindblom.
