Ronald O. Hammond, 70, of Poplar Grove, died surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 26, 2008 in the home of his son following a short illness. Born June 8, 1937 in Belvidere, Ill. the son of Glyndon D. and Emma (Humbracht) Hammond. He lived most of his life in the Belvidere area. He married Beverly Englund in Belvidere on June 1, 1956. He was employed in machine maintenance by National Gray Iron Foundry/Moline Corporation for many years. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and bowling as well as an avid sports fan. He attended Belvidere area schools. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Poplar Grove; two sons, Gary (Cheryl) Hammond, Rockford; and Dennis (Lee) Hammond, Belvidere; and a daughter, Julie (Bradley) Hammond, Rockford; nine grandchildren, Brandy, Wayne, Katrina, Jeremy, Roman, Amber, Bradley, Richard and Justin; eight great grandchildren. Two sisters, Patsy Feltz and Ethel Lee; four brothers, Glyndon; Gordon; Leroy; and Harold Hammond. Preceded in death by parents and a brother, Bill.
